Satin is what sets it apart from the matte polyester abayas elsewhere in the range. It has a soft sheen that catches light as you move, so a plain, unembellished design still reads as dressed-up. No beading, no embroidery, nothing to snag or come loose — the fabric does the work.

The cut

This is a roomy abaya, not a fitted one. The body falls loose from the shoulders into a wide sweeping skirt, and the sleeves are cut full and voluminous, gathered at the cuff. There's a lot of fabric here, which is exactly what satin needs — the volume is what creates the fall and the light across the folds.

The tie belt is what gives you control. Drawn in, it defines the waist and the skirt falls away from a fixed point. Left loose or off entirely, the abaya hangs straight and reads relaxed and enveloping.

Ten colours

Black, grey and coffee are the wearable neutrals. In satin, black in particular looks considerably more formal than the same cut in matte fabric.

White and pink are the light options — good for daytime events and summer, and both unforgiving of marks.

Army green, green, blue and purple are the deeper shades. Satin gives these real depth; the sheen makes a dark colour look rich rather than flat. Army green in particular is the one that photographs beautifully and looks well above its price.

Gold is the boldest in the range and firmly an occasion colour. In satin it's genuinely striking, and it's the one you're least likely to see on anyone else.

Sizing

Available in S, M, L, XL and 2XL, in all ten colours.

These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs one to two sizes smaller than UK equivalents — so most UK customers should order at least one size up from their usual. That said, the generous cut and the adjustable belt give this more latitude through the body than most abayas. Length is the thing with no give.

A note on the photographs: the model is styled with a matching scarf. We haven't yet confirmed with the manufacturer whether a scarf is included, so please assume it isn't and email us if you'd like us to check before you order.

Care

Satin needs gentler handling than the polyester abayas. Hand wash cool with a mild detergent, or machine wash on a delicates cycle inside a mesh bag. Never wring it — press the water out. Line dry or lay flat, away from direct sunlight, which dulls the sheen over time. Never tumble dry. Iron on the lowest setting through a pressing cloth on the reverse — a hot iron directly on satin leaves a permanent shine mark. Don't bleach. Wash the light colours separately.
