Nour Kimono Abaya | Fringed Tassel Trim | UK

An open-front kimono abaya with deep fringed tassel trim on the sleeves and hem — and the fringing is the reason to buy it. It runs in a wide band above the cuff and around the lower body, with a beaded and embroidered strip above it, so the piece has real movement and detail without any print or pattern.

It comes with a matching tie belt. Left open, it's a long fluid layer over whatever you're wearing. Tied at the waist, the fringe swings from a defined point and the shape becomes more structured. Genuinely two looks from one garment.

Four-way stretch

The fabric is a 90% polyester knit with four-way stretch, which is unusual for an abaya. Most are cut from woven fabric with no give at all — unforgiving across the shoulders and uncomfortable to sit in for long stretches.

This one moves with you and springs back. Fewer creases after sitting, more room across the arms when you reach, and a garment that feels closer to comfortable everyday clothing than to formal wear.

Three colours

Black is the versatile one, and the fringing plus the pale beaded band gives it enough contrast that it never reads as plain.

Pink is a soft dusty rose — lighter, warmer, and particularly good in daylight and warmer months. The dark fringing against the pink is the most striking of the three.

The stretch knit is mid-weight, which makes this one of the more year-round pieces here. Light enough over a t-shirt in spring, roomy enough to go over a jumper in autumn. In a British winter it works as a layer rather than as a coat — it isn't wind-resistant the way a woven outer piece would be.

These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs one to two sizes smaller than UK equivalents — most UK customers should order at least one size up from their usual. The four-way stretch and open front make width fairly forgiving. Length is worth checking, since the hem fringing means the garment should fall where it's designed to rather than being taken up.

Care

The fringing needs protecting — it's the part that tangles and the part that's hardest to put right.

Hand wash cool, or machine wash on a delicates cycle inside a mesh bag so the tassels can't wrap around the drum. Never wring it. Hang to dry and comb the fringe straight with your fingers while damp so it dries hanging properly. Avoid tumble drying: heat degrades the elastane that gives the fabric its stretch, and once that's gone it doesn't come back. Cool iron only, avoiding the beaded band and the fringe entirely. Don't bleach.
