The most decorated abaya in our range, and the one to reach for when the occasion warrants something beyond plain. Crystal work runs in a vine-and-leaf pattern down the front placket, across the sleeves and around the hem — hundreds of small heat-set stones catching light without the weight that heavy beading adds.

It's a front-open abaya, so it's worn over an outfit rather than instead of one. Left open the crystal placket frames whatever you have on underneath; closed and belted it reads as a single ornate piece.

The tasselled belt

It comes with a matching cord belt finished with tassels at each end. Tied at the waist it defines the shape and lets the wide sleeves and skirt fall away from a fixed point. Left off, the abaya hangs straight and reads more relaxed.

Bell sleeves

The sleeves are cut wide and flare from the elbow, with the crystal pattern following the flare. It's a distinctly Gulf-influenced detail and it changes how the whole piece moves — the sleeve swings as you gesture, which gives the abaya presence even standing still.

Four-way stretch

The fabric is a four-way stretch polyester. That matters more than it sounds — most abayas are cut from woven fabric with no give at all, so fit is unforgiving and sitting for long periods is uncomfortable.

This one stretches in every direction and recovers its shape. For a long event, that's the difference between an abaya you enjoy wearing and one you're relieved to take off.

Five colours

Black is the formal default and gives the crystal work maximum contrast.

Blue is a deep navy and the most versatile of the coloured options — the silver stonework reads beautifully against it.

Green is the other jewel tone, deep enough to stay elegant and distinctive enough that you won't see yourself repeated across the room.

Pink is a soft dusty rose — the lightest in the range, and the one that works best in daylight and warmer months.

Red is the boldest choice and reads as celebratory.

Size guide

Measurements are of the garment itself, in centimetres. Chest figures are the full circumference, measured flat and doubled.

Please read before ordering — this is a long abaya

At 146–149cm from the shoulder, this is longer than most abayas. For reference, shoulder-to-floor on someone around 5'4" is roughly 135cm, so this will pool on the floor unless you are tall or plan to wear heels.

The length barely changes across sizes — only 3cm from L to XXXL — so going up a size adds width, not height. If the length is the issue, sizing up won't solve it.

Note also that this style starts at L; there is no S or M. Combined with Asian sizing running smaller than UK, the L here suits roughly a UK 12–14 across the body, with the four-way stretch giving some latitude either way.

Care

The crystal work is the part that needs protecting, and heat is what loosens it.

Hand wash cool, or machine wash on a delicates cycle inside a mesh bag so the stones can't catch on the drum. Never wring it. Hang to dry well away from radiators and direct heat — heat softens the adhesive holding heat-set stones, and once they start coming off they don't go back. Iron on low from the reverse side only, avoiding the decorated areas entirely. Don't bleach or tumble dry. Wash the belt with the abaya so the tassels don't tangle with other garments.
