Collection: Shirts for Men UK | Best Fits Casual and Formal Wear

Read more about Shirts for Men UK

Seven shirts, and they split into three genuinely different things: business shirts you would wear under a suit, warm-weather shirts cut loose, and overshirts that are really light jackets. Worth knowing which is which before you order.

Business shirts

Two slim-fit options, and between them they cover most of what an office needs. The plain formal shirt comes in seven colours — white, light blue and navy for conventional settings, plus black, grey, pink and army green if your workplace allows more latitude. The striped shirt is the patterned alternative, in eight variations.

The striped shirt also carries the widest size range on this page: XS to 6XL. Formal shirts usually stop at XXL, so if you have had trouble finding a business shirt that fits at either end of the range, start there.

Popover shirts — the pull-on kind

A popover has a short button placket that stops partway down the chest rather than running the full length, so it pulls on over the head. It is a genuinely different garment from a standard shirt rather than a variation: no full front opening means a cleaner line, and it sits somewhere between a shirt and a casual top.

Ours is a short-sleeve linen-blend in four prints. Wear it untucked — popovers rarely look right tucked in.

Warm-weather shirts

The long-sleeve linen-blend beach shirt is the one to look at for heat. A linen blend breathes in a way that cotton poplin does not, and the long sleeve is deliberate: it keeps the sun off while staying cooler than bare arms, which is why the style persists in hot countries. Dark blue, dark grey, green or wine red, in sizes S to 5XL.

Overshirts — jackets, in practice

Two items here are shirts by cut and jackets by use, and it is worth being clear about that before you order one expecting a shirt.

The corduroy overshirt is a workwear-cut shirt in heavier fabric, meant to be worn open over a t-shirt or buttoned as a light jacket. Beige, black or dark grey, sizes M to 5XL.

The hooded plaid flannel goes further — flannel weight with a hood attached, which puts it firmly in shacket territory. It is the warmest thing on this page and the least shirt-like.

Neither will work under a suit jacket. Both work well over one layer and under a coat.

Polo

One contrast-trim polo in five colours, sizes M to 3XL. The middle ground between a t-shirt and a shirt — collared enough for a smart-casual dress code, relaxed enough for a weekend.

Sizing — read before ordering

These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs roughly one to two sizes smaller than UK and US equivalents. Most customers should order at least one size up from their usual.

Slim fits compound this. Shirting fabric has no meaningful stretch, so a slim-fit business shirt that is snug on arrival stays snug. If you are between sizes on the formal shirts, size up rather than down.

Where we have the manufacturer's measurements we publish the full table on the product page. Where the chart exists only as an image, we say so rather than estimate. Email support@worldoftrendz.com with your collar or chest measurement and your usual size and we will tell you which to order.

Care

Business shirts: wash warm, then hang immediately while still damp — most of the creasing sorts itself out. When you do iron, do the collar and cuffs first and the body last.

Linen blend: wash cool, and expect it to crease. That is the fabric behaving normally, not a fault. Press it while slightly damp if you want it smooth.

Corduroy and flannel: wash cool and inside out, then hang to dry. Tumble drying flattens corduroy's pile and shrinks flannel.

Full instructions are on each product page.

What to wear them with

For smart-casual, pair a shirt with something from men's trousers. For formal wear, see men's suits. And for colder months, the winter collection has the jackets and coats that layer over the top.
