Product Description

A wrap-front abaya dress in milk silk, with a self-tie belt at the waist. The crossover bodice creates a soft V at the neckline — not a cut V-neck but a wrapped one, which sits more comfortably and lets you adjust how open or closed it sits.

Milk silk is a soft, matte-finish knit rather than a true silk. It has a fluid drape and a slight stretch, which makes it far more comfortable to wear all day than a stiff woven abaya, and it skims the body rather than clinging.

The waist tie

It comes with a matching self-tie belt. Drawn in, it defines the waist and the skirt falls away from a fixed point. Left loose, the dress hangs straighter and reads more relaxed. It's the detail that lets one garment work for both an everyday errand and an evening out.

The skirt

Cut full and gathered into the waist seam, so it falls in soft vertical folds rather than hanging flat. That's what gives the dress movement as you walk — the difference between an abaya that looks graceful in motion and one that looks like a straight tube.

The fabric is heavy enough to fall properly and light enough not to feel weighty, which is really the whole argument for milk silk over stiffer alternatives.

Seven colours

Black and dark blue are the everyday workhorses. Grey is the softer neutral, easier in daylight than black. These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs one to two sizes smaller than UK equivalents — most UK customers should order at least one size up. The wrap front and tie belt make this more adjustable through the body than a fixed-waist abaya, so width is fairly forgiving. Length has no give: if you're taller than about 5'8", check with us first.

Care

Machine wash cool on a gentle cycle, inside out. Hang to dry — milk silk dries quickly and holds its shape well on a hanger. Avoid tumble drying, which can damage the surface finish and the stretch. Iron on low only if needed, and never bleach. Wash the deeper colours — red wine, dark blue, green — separately for the first few washes.
