The most affordable abaya we stock, and the one that makes most sense as a first purchase or a wardrobe staple you can own in several colours.

It's a plain closed abaya with a matching self-tie belt — pull it on, tie the waist, done. No fastenings, no styling decisions. The belt is what gives it shape: drawn in it defines the waist, left loose the abaya falls straight and relaxed.

The sleeves

Wider and fuller than a plain abaya sleeve, flaring out through the forearm. It's the detail that stops this reading as basic, and it gives the abaya movement as you walk and gesture — the sort of thing you'd expect at twice the price.

Eight colours

The colour range is the real reason to look at this one. Alongside black and grey, there's dark red, dark purple, purple, pink, brown and army green.

At this price it's realistic to own two or three. The practical approach: black for anything formal or uncertain, one earthy tone — army green or brown — for daily wear, and one of the deeper shades like dark red or dark purple for gatherings where you'd rather not be in black.

Army green and dark red are the two that photograph best and look most expensive relative to what they cost.

The fabric

Polyester with a matte finish, chosen for drape rather than sheen. It falls cleanly into a full A-line skirt, resists creasing far better than natural fibres, and washes easily — all of which matter more on an abaya you'll wear weekly than on an occasion piece worn twice a year.

Be realistic about what a £29 abaya is: this is a well-made everyday garment, not an heirloom. The finish is clean and the fabric is decent, but it won't have the hand-feel of the milk silk or satin pieces higher up the range.

Sizing

Available in S, M, L, XL and 2XL, across all eight colours.

These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs one to two sizes smaller than UK equivalents — most UK customers should order at least one size up from their usual. The loose cut and the adjustable tie belt give reasonable latitude through the body, so this is more forgiving than a fitted abaya. Length has no give.

Care

Machine wash cool on a gentle cycle, inside out. Hang to dry rather than tumble drying. Cool iron if needed. Don't bleach — it will mark the deeper colours permanently. Wash the dark red and dark purple separately for the first few washes.
