Why cowhide

Cowhide is the heaviest of the common jacket leathers, and that weight is the point. It hangs with real structure across the shoulders, takes abrasion without marking, and softens into the shape of whoever wears it instead of staying flat. A cowhide jacket bought this year tends to look better in five years than it does on the first day — few garments work that way.

The finish here is aged: the surface has been distressed so the colour breaks lighter at the seams, elbows and zip edges, the way a jacket does after a few seasons of real wear.

The cut

An asymmetric zip front — the classic offset closure that lets the collar fold flat against the chest when open and seals against the wind when closed. Quilted panels across the shoulders add texture and padding exactly where a biker jacket takes the most stress. It is a close-to-the-body silhouette, meant to sit near the torso rather than hang loose.

Two colours

Aged black is the distressed option, with the lived-in tonal variation described above.

Black is the cleaner, more even finish — for anyone who would rather start with a flat surface and let their own wear do the work.

Sizing

Available in S, M and L. These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs one to two sizes smaller than UK and US equivalents — most customers should order at least one size up from their usual.

A fitted leather jacket is also less forgiving than a fabric one: there is no give in the shell, so the size you order is the size you get. The manufacturer supplies the size chart as an image and we haven't transcribed the figures. Care

Leather doesn't want washing. Wipe marks off with a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally, away from direct heat — a radiator or a hot car will dry the hide out and crack it. Condition it once or twice a year with a leather cream, worked in thinly. Hang it on a broad-shouldered hanger rather than a wire one, which will dent the shoulder line over time. Never machine wash, tumble dry or bleach.
