A slim-fit motorcycle jacket in cowhide, cut close through the body and shoulders. This is the fitted end of the leather jacket spectrum — if you prefer room to layer a jumper underneath, this isn't that jacket.

Cowhide is the heavier, harder-wearing hide. It has a tight grain and real structure, which is why motorcycle jackets have used it for a century: it resists abrasion and it holds a shape. The trade-off is that it starts stiff. Give it a few weeks of regular wear and it softens considerably, moulding to your shoulders and creasing at the elbows where you actually bend.

The details

Stand collar rather than lapels, so it closes cleanly at the neck and keeps wind out. Full cotton lining, which matters more than people expect — cotton breathes, so the jacket doesn't get clammy the way a polyester-lined one does when you move between cold streets and warm rooms.

Black only, in a fitted cut. It works over a t-shirt or a thin merino crew; it will not comfortably go over a chunky knit.

What genuine cowhide looks like

Real hide is not uniform. Grain varies panel to panel, and small natural marks are visible in the surface. Those aren't defects — they're the tell that separates hide from an embossed synthetic. Each jacket differs slightly from the photographs for this reason.

Sizing

Available in M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL.

These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs roughly one to two sizes smaller than UK sizing — so most UK customers should order at least one size up from their usual. This is a slim fit as well, which compounds it, and cowhide has very little stretch: a jacket that's tight on arrival will stay tight.

Care

Wipe with a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally, away from radiators — direct heat is what dries hide out and cracks it. A leather conditioner once or twice a year keeps it supple. Hang it on a broad wooden hanger so the shoulders hold their shape. Never machine wash it, and keep it well away from a tumble dryer.
