Sheepskin sits at the soft end of the leather spectrum. Where cowhide is stiff and structural, sheepskin is light and pliable from the start — it drapes rather than stands up, and it's noticeably warmer for its weight. If you've tried leather jackets before and found them heavy or restrictive across the shoulders, this is the material that solves that.

The cut is clean and unfussy: stand collar, black, no decorative hardware. It reads as a smart jacket rather than a biker jacket, which makes it easier to wear over a shirt or with tailored trousers.

Sheepskin, honestly

The trade-off for that softness is durability. Sheepskin is thinner than cowhide and scuffs more easily — it won't take the abuse a motorcycle jacket will, and it isn't the choice if you want something to knock about in for twenty years. What it offers instead is comfort you'll actually notice every time you put it on, and a supple hand-feel that stiffer leathers never develop.

For British autumn and spring it's well judged. Leather blocks wind far better than wool, and the stand collar closes off the neck. It's showerproof rather than waterproof — fine between the car and the restaurant, not for standing about in rain.

Size guide

Measurements are of the garment itself, in centimetres. Lay a jacket you already own flat, measure across it, and match it to the table.

Allow 2–3cm variance, as these are measured by hand.

4XL is also available, but the manufacturer hasn't supplied measurements for it — email us before ordering that size and we'll confirm the dimensions first.

These are Asian sizes and run one to two sizes smaller than UK equivalents, so most UK customers should order at least one size up from their usual. Sheepskin has a little more give than cowhide, but not enough to rescue a size that's too small.

Care

Sheepskin is more delicate than cowhide and benefits from a lighter touch. Wipe with a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally, well away from radiators — direct heat dries the hide and cracks it. Use a conditioner formulated for soft leathers once or twice a year, sparingly. Hang it on a broad wooden hanger rather than a wire one; the leather is thin enough that a narrow hanger will mark the shoulders. Never machine wash or tumble dry it.
