Men's Leather Café Racer Jacket | Stand Collar

A café racer is the quiet leather jacket — a stand collar instead of lapels, a straight zip instead of an offset one, and nothing on the outside that doesn't need to be there. This one keeps that discipline and adds a quilted shoulder panel, which is the one detail the style allows itself.

Café racer or biker?

The two names get used interchangeably and shouldn't be. A biker jacket has an asymmetric zip, wide notch lapels and visible hardware; it is built to be noticed. A café racer runs the zip up the centre, closes at a small stand collar and strips the hardware back.

The result is a jacket you can wear over a shirt to dinner without looking like you arrived on a motorcycle — which makes it the more versatile of the two if you only own one leather jacket.

The detailing

Quilted panels across the shoulders are the one piece of visual texture, placed where a rider's jacket would carry padding. Zip front pockets are set into the body rather than patched on, so the line stays flat. The stand collar fastens close to the neck.

Two colours

Black is the default and the more formal of the two — the version that works under a coat and over a shirt.

Grey is less common in leather and reads softer. It sits better against mid-tone denim and charcoal than black does.

Sizing

Available in S, M, L, XL, XXL and 3XL, in both colours. These are cut on Asian sizing, which runs one to two sizes smaller than UK and US equivalents — most customers should order at least one size up from their usual.

A café racer is meant to sit close to the body, so don't over-correct: one size up is usually right, two only if you plan to layer knitwear underneath. Care

Wipe marks off with a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun — heat dries the hide and cracks it. Condition once or twice a year with a leather cream, worked in thinly. Store on a broad-shouldered hanger; a wire one will dent the shoulder line permanently. Never machine wash, tumble dry or bleach.
